Details
1. Introduction
MC-201 is suitable for spray degreasing of cold-rolled sheet, galvanized sheet, aluminum and aluminum alloy, and can also be used as impregnation degreasing agent, which can quickly remove grease, dust, metal shavings and solid particles on the metal surface. The pH value is alkaline, does not contain silicate, and has good washing performance. No foam, has strong degreasing ability and fast speed.
2. Operating Requirements

Free Alkalinity | 7.0-15.0pt |
Bath PH Value | 8.0-10.0 |
Processing Temperature | 50-55℃ |
Processing Time | 10-15min |
Processing Method | Dipping, Spraying |
3. Materials
MC-201 | Degreaser |
4. Equipment
Storage tanks, pinches, pumps and piping for this process may be fabricated from mild steel. In spray applications, maintenance is simple if the nozzles are constructed of 300 series stainless steel. For heating with steam or hot water, the heat exchanger shall be constructed of polished 316 stainless steel, but gas burner tubes shall be constructed of 80 gauge carbon steel pipe or equivalent. All process circulation pump valves, door seals and other elastomeric materials in contact with the working solution shall be Buna-N, Hypalon or synthetic rubber. EPDM should be avoided. Automatic process control equipment is used to automatically control the process, which can promote stable quality and control costs. Auxiliary equipment designed specifically for this process, including pneumatic chemical transfer pumps, chemical metering pumps, liquid level controllers, solenoid valve assemblies and storage tanks. The chemical mixers used to prepare solid product slurries are available in three sizes, and the slurries can be metered into the process at a controlled rate. All chemical pumps, valves and other elastomers in contact with the concentrate or slurries should be Manufactured from PTFE or synthetic rubber.
5. Rinse With MC-201
Bath Make-up (1000kg) | Spray or Dip |
MC-201 | 20kg–40kg |
Add 200kg of water to the tank, add 20kg-40kg of MC-201 degreasing agent into the tank and stir until completely dissolved, then add water to 1000kg and circulate for at least ten minutes. After the bath solution has been running for a period of time, the degreasing ability will decrease, which is manifested by the decrease of free alkalinity, so MC-201 degreasing agent should be added appropriately to increase the free alkalinity. It is necessary to add MC-201 degreasing agent appropriately.
Addition of bath solution: every 1000kg of bath solution increases 1.0pt of free alkali, and about 3kg of MC-201 degreaser needs to be added.
If after long-term operation, the cleaning effect is unsatisfactory even under the best working conditions (concentration, temperature, spray time and spray pressure of MC-201), the cleaning tank must be drained and a new tank must be reconfigured.
6. Testing and Control
Detection of free alkalinity:
Use a 10ml pipette to pipette 10ml of the bath solution into a 250ml Erlenmeyer flask,
Add 50ml of water to dilute, then add 3-5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator,
Titrate with 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid standard solution, the solution changes from pink to colorless as the end point,
The milliliters of hydrochloric acid consumed at this time is the total alkalinity.
Detection of total alkalinity:
Use a 10ml pipette to pipette 10ml of the bath solution into a 250ml Erlenmeyer flask,
Add 50ml of water to dilute, then add 3-5 drops of bromophenol blue indicator,
Titrate with 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid standard solution, the solution changes from blue to bright yellow as the end point,
The milliliters of hydrochloric acid consumed at this time is the total alkalinity.
7. Storage Requirements
MC-201 is an alkaline degreasing agent, the storage site should not be close to acids, and avoid sun and rain.
8. Wastewater Treatment Requirements
The handling requirements for regulated chemicals, given in the form of a chemical Material Safety Data Sheet, should be known and followed regarding the handling and discharge of chemicals. The working bath is alkaline and contains phosphates. Neutralization or wastewater treatment may be required before rinse water or working solutions are discharged to the sewer. The working solution and the sludge that accumulates in the tank may contain a different composition than the supplied chemicals and analysis of the solution and sludge may be required prior to disposal.
9. Matters Needing Attention
When handling chemicals used in this process, read, understand, and follow the first aid and disposal instructions for the product listed on the Material Safety Data Sheet. The working bath solution is alkaline and can cause skin and eye irritation. Do not get it in eyes, skin or clothing. Do not take internally. When handling, wear a mask, rubber gloves and protective clothing. In case of encounter, follow the guidance of the material safety data sheet.
